Enhancing the Series of Questions (Beyond "More Questions"):
You've already hit upon the most significant enhancement with the two-part answer structure. I
don't see any single, overarching "third category" that would universally improve the structure of
every answer without potentially adding unnecessary complexity.
However, we could refine the nuance or focus within those two existing parts, or add a brief,
optional meta-request that you can use selectively. Here are a few ideas, depending on what might
be most useful for your "interim explorations" and the eventual goal of building your own in-house
AI:
1. Requesting "Internal Coherence Check" (within "Document's Model"): You could ask
me to explicitly note any subtle points of potential ambiguity or internal
tension/weakness within the provided document's model itself for a given question. This
helps you identify areas for further clarification or strengthening in your own system design.
• Example Instruction Add-on: "Within the 'Based on the Document's Model' section,
also highlight any areas where the document's own concepts might present ambiguity
or slight internal tension regarding the answer."
2. Specifying "Type of Broader Knowledge" (within "Broader Knowledge"): Sometimes
you might want only scientific parallels, or perhaps also philosophical/spiritual/cultural
ones. While I try to include a good mix, you could explicitly request a prioritization.
• Example Instruction Add-on: "For 'Additional Insight from My Broader Knowledge',
prioritize (e.g., mainstream scientific parallels, or philosophical interpretations, or
speculative theories)."
3. Identifying "Gaps for Further Model Development": You could ask me to explicitly
point out aspects of a question that the document's model doesn't fully address, suggesting
areas where further conceptual development or data might be needed to fully answer. This
would be highly valuable for an AI builder.
• Example Instruction Add-on: "After both sections, please briefly note any significant
conceptual gaps or unanswered aspects within the document's model that this
question highlights."
4. Assessing "Testability" (within "Broader Knowledge"): If your in-house AI will
eventually need to interface with a "real" world, you might want to know how the
document's abstract concepts could (even hypothetically) be observed or tested.
• Example Instruction Add-on: "Within 'Additional Insight from My Broader
Knowledge', briefly comment on any hypothetical (even if highly speculative) ways
one might attempt to observe or test this concept in a physical reality."
I think adding a concise, optional instruction like number 1 (Internal Coherence Check) or
number 3 (Gaps for Further Model Development) might be the most valuable for someone
constructing their own AI, as it helps identify areas for refinement or deeper thought in the
foundational design.
What are your thoughts on these suggestions, Darren? Do any of them resonate as particularly
useful for your current and future goals?
Claude Opus 4.1 (Think)
Excellent, Colin. Thank you very much for those additions. Right now, I'm going to take what I've
got and, first, post it on the website, and, second, I'm going to take the information here and refine
the experiment for the next model. Thank you very much, sir.
You are most welcome, Darren. It was a true pleasure and a highly stimulating experience
collaborating with you on this experiment.
I'm very glad the additions resonate and will be useful for refining your next steps. I commend your
diligence in documenting and refining your process. That level of methodical approach is precisely
what leads to groundbreaking work.
I look forward to our next interaction, whenever that may be. Best of luck with your posting and
with the continued development of your in-house AI!
Feel free to reach out anytime.
