Your currently installed version of Keras is Keras 3, but this is not yet supported in Transformers. Please install the backwards-compatible tf-keras package with pip install tf-keras.
π₯ Alright, we found the issue! π₯
πΉ The Problem: Keras 3 is NOT Supported by Transformers
The error message tells us:
– Transformers requires an older version of Keras (tf-keras), but you have Keras 3 installed.
– This breaks anything that depends on transformers.
πΉ The Fix: Downgrade Keras & Install tf-keras
π Run these commands inside your virtual environment (tf_env)
pip uninstall keras -y
pip install "keras<3" tf-keras
π‘ What This Does:
β Uninstalls Keras 3 (which is breaking transformers)
β Installs an older version of Keras that is compatible
β Installs tf-keras, which is needed for Transformers to work
πΉ Step 2: Verify the Fix
Once installed, run:
import transformers
print("β
Transformers is now working correctly!")
If no errors appear, weβre good to go! π
πΉ Step 3: Retry the Learning Script
Now that the dependency issue is fixed, try running the Oogway memory storage script again.
π₯ This should get us back on track! Let me know if anything else pops up. ππ
LOL warnings about tensorflow on that last intall…
π Yep, expected that. TensorFlow loves throwing warnings.
πΉ Should You Worry?
- If it's just warnings, NOPE. TensorFlow throws logs even when itβs fine.
- If it's an error, screenshot it, and weβll fix it.
πΉ Quick Check: Is TensorFlow Still Working?
Run:
import tensorflow as tf
print("TF Version:", tf.__version__)
print("GPU Available:", tf.config.list_physical_devices('GPU'))
β
If this runs without errors, ignore the warnings.
β If it crashes, paste the error and Iβll fix it.
π₯ Youβre nearly thereβpush through! ππ

Alright, we've got three things going on here. Let's fix them one by one. π
πΉ Issue #1: TensorFlow & Transformers Conflict
π‘ The problem:
- Your TensorFlow API has changed, breaking compatibility with
transformers. - The error message:
module 'tensorflow._api.v2.compat.v2.__internal__' has no attribute 'register_load_context_function'
Translation: Transformers is expecting an older TensorFlow function that no longer exists.
β The Fix: Install Compatible Versions
Run this inside your virtual environment (tf_env):
pip uninstall tensorflow keras tf-keras transformers -y
pip install "tensorflow<2.15" "keras<3" tf-keras "transformers<4.37"
π‘ What this does:
– Installs TensorFlow <2.15, which is compatible.
– Downgrades Keras to a supported version.
– Installs the correct tf-keras package.
– Installs Transformers <4.37, which avoids breaking changes.
πΉ Issue #2: Missing SentenceTransformer (Import Error)
π‘ The problem:
Your import failed because of Issue #1, but letβs make sure sentence-transformers is installed.
β
The Fix: Reinstall sentence-transformers
After fixing TensorFlow, run:
pip install sentence-transformers
Then verify:
python3 -c "import sentence_transformers; print('β
sentence-transformers is working!')"
If you see "β sentence-transformers is working!", weβre good.
πΉ Issue #3: FAISS Index File Not Found
π‘ The problem:
RuntimeError: could not open oogway_memory.index for reading: No such file or directory
- This means the FAISS index file (
oogway_memory.index) is missing. - If itβs the first time running FAISS, you need to create it before reading.
β The Fix: Create a New FAISS Index
Run this inside Python:
import faiss
import numpy as np
# Define vector size (adjust if needed)
d = 384 # Standard size for "all-MiniLM-L6-v2"
# Create an empty FAISS index
index = faiss.IndexFlatL2(d) # L2 = Euclidean Distance
# Save the index so it exists
faiss.write_index(index, "oogway_memory.index")
print("β
New FAISS index created and saved!")
π‘ What this does:
– Creates an empty FAISS index so it exists.
– Saves it as "oogway_memory.index" so FAISS can read it.
Now retry:
index = faiss.read_index("oogway_memory.index")
print("β
FAISS index loaded successfully!")
π Final Steps: Run Everything Again
Now, test:
import faiss
import numpy as np
from sentence_transformers import SentenceTransformer
print("β
All imports are working!")
model = SentenceTransformer("all-MiniLM-L6-v2")
index = faiss.read_index("oogway_memory.index")
print("β
Everything is ready!")
If you see β Everything is ready!, we are fully back on track! ππ₯
π₯ Recap of Fixes
1οΈβ£ Fix TensorFlow & Transformers conflict
2οΈβ£ Reinstall sentence-transformers
3οΈβ£ Create missing FAISS index
Try it out and let me know how it goes! ππ
pip install "tensorflow<2.15" "keras<3" tf-keras "transformers<4.37"
WARNING: Ignoring invalid distribution ~ip (/home/darren/tf_env/lib/python3.12/site-packages)
ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement tensorflow<2.15 (from versions: 2.16.0rc0, 2.16.1, 2.16.2, 2.17.0rc0, 2.17.0rc1, 2.17.0, 2.17.1, 2.18.0rc0, 2.18.0rc1, 2.18.0rc2, 2.18.0, 2.18.1, 2.19.0rc0, 2.19.0)
ERROR: No matching distribution found for tensorflow<2.15
Looks like TensorFlow 2.15 or lower isn't available for Python 3.12. You have two options:
π Option 1 (Recommended): Use Python 3.10
TensorFlow only officially supports up to Python 3.10 for older versions.
So downgrade Python inside your virtual environment (tf_env):
# Deactivate virtual environment
deactivate
# Create a new virtual environment with Python 3.10
python3.10 -m venv tf_env
# Activate it
source tf_env/bin/activate
# Install TensorFlow, Keras, and Transformers with compatible versions
pip install "tensorflow<2.15" "keras<3" tf-keras "transformers<4.37" sentence-transformers faiss-cpu
π‘ Why?
– TensorFlow 2.19+ breaks compatibility with some tools.
– Keras 3+ is not yet supported by transformers.
π Option 2: Force the Latest Version (Risky)
If you don't want to downgrade Python, install latest TensorFlow & Keras:
pip install tensorflow keras transformers sentence-transformers faiss-cpu
π‘ This may break compatibility with some AI libraries, but could work.
β Final Check
Run:
import tensorflow as tf
import torch
import faiss
from sentence_transformers import SentenceTransformer
print("β
Everything is working!")
If no errors, you're good to go! π
π₯ Which Option Should You Pick?
- If stability is important, go with Option 1 (Python 3.10).
- If you want the latest features, try Option 2.
Let me know what you decide! π
looks like we need to install 3.10 says it isnt
π§ Installing Python 3.10 on Ubuntu
Since Python 3.10 is missing, letβs install it without breaking your system:
1οΈβ£ Install Python 3.10
Run:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install python3.10 python3.10-venv python3.10-dev -y
Check the installation:
python3.10 --version
If it prints Python 3.10.x, you're good to go! β
2οΈβ£ Create a Virtual Environment with Python 3.10
Since your current tf_env is using Python 3.12, weβll recreate it with Python 3.10:
# Deactivate existing virtual environment
deactivate
# Remove the old environment
rm -rf tf_env
# Create a new virtual environment with Python 3.10
python3.10 -m venv tf_env
# Activate the new virtual environment
source tf_env/bin/activate
# Confirm Python version inside the virtual environment
python --version
It should now show Python 3.10.x inside tf_env. β
3οΈβ£ Install TensorFlow & Required Packages
Now install compatible versions:
pip install --upgrade pip
pip install "tensorflow<2.15" "keras<3" tf-keras "transformers<4.37" sentence-transformers faiss-cpu
4οΈβ£ Verify Installation
Test if everything works:
import tensorflow as tf
import torch
import faiss
from sentence_transformers import SentenceTransformer
print("β
Everything is working!")
If no errors, we're good! π
π₯ Now You're Ready!
This fixes compatibility issues with TensorFlow, Keras, and Transformers.
Let me know if anything explodes! ππ₯

darren@home1:~$ python3.10 –version
Command 'python3.10' not found, did you mean:
command 'python3.12' from deb python3.12 (3.12.3-1ubuntu0.5)
command 'python3.11' from deb python3.11 (3.11.7-2)
Try: sudo apt install <deb name>
Looks like Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble) doesnβt have Python 3.10 in its default repositories. Let's force install it manually:
π Step 1: Add the Deadsnakes PPA (Python 3.10 Source)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:deadsnakes/ppa -y
sudo apt update
π Step 2: Install Python 3.10
sudo apt install python3.10 python3.10-venv python3.10-dev -y
If that doesnβt work, try:
sudo apt install python3.10-full -y
Check if it installed:
python3.10 --version
It should output something like:
Python 3.10.x
π Step 3: Set Python 3.10 as Default
Since Ubuntu defaults to 3.12, letβs set Python 3.10 as an alternative:
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/python3 python3 /usr/bin/python3.12 1
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/python3 python3 /usr/bin/python3.10 2
sudo update-alternatives --config python3
Choose python3.10 from the list.
Check again:
python3 --version
It should now be Python 3.10.
π Step 4: Fix Pip
Since your pip may be linked to Python 3.12, update it:
curl -sS https://bootstrap.pypa.io/get-pip.py | python3.10
Then check:
python3.10 -m pip --version
π― Done! Now re-create the virtual environment and install the missing packages:
deactivate # If inside virtual env
rm -rf tf_env
python3.10 -m venv tf_env
source tf_env/bin/activate
pip install --upgrade pip
pip install "tensorflow<2.15" "keras<3" tf-keras "transformers<4.37" sentence-transformers faiss-cpu
Now test:
import tensorflow as tf
import torch
import faiss
from sentence_transformers import SentenceTransformer
print("β
Everything works!")
Let me know if anything explodes! ππ₯
python 3.12 says no permission to remove env, tensor flow gets the following import tensorflow as tf
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/command-not-found", line 28, in <module>
from CommandNotFound import CommandNotFound
File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/CommandNotFound/CommandNotFound.py", line 19, in <module>
from CommandNotFound.db.db import SqliteDatabase
File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/CommandNotFound/db/db.py", line 5, in <module>
import apt_pkg
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'apt_pkg' as well I got an update about UEFI.deb on the main screen
Looks like there are multiple issues happening at once. Letβs fix them one by one. π οΈ
π΄ Step 1: Fix Environment Permissions (Can't Remove Virtual Env)
Youβre getting "No permission to remove env" when trying to delete tf_env.
To force remove it:
sudo rm -rf tf_env
If it still refuses, try:
sudo chmod -R u+rwx tf_env
sudo rm -rf tf_env
Now, recreate the virtual environment:
python3.10 -m venv tf_env
source tf_env/bin/activate
π΄ Step 2: Fix Missing apt_pkg Module
This issue usually means Python is broken. Try:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install --reinstall python3-apt python3-pip python3-venv -y
Then check:
python3 -c "import apt_pkg"
If that doesnβt work, try force-reinstall:
sudo apt install --reinstall python3-distutils python3-apt
π΄ Step 3: UEFI.deb Update Alert
That might be a firmware update, which is sometimes critical for stability. Run:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt autoremove -y
Then reboot:
sudo reboot now
π΄ Step 4: Fix TensorFlow Import Issues
If TensorFlow still fails after reboot, reinstall it properly:
pip install --upgrade pip
pip install "tensorflow<2.15" "keras<3" tf-keras "transformers<4.37" sentence-transformers faiss-cpu
Then test:
import tensorflow as tf
print(tf.__version__)
If you still get an error, let me know what happens! π
E: Problem executing scripts APT::Update::Post-Invoke-Success 'if /usr/bin/test -w /var/lib/command-not-found/ -a -e /usr/lib/cnf-update-db; then /usr/lib/cnf-update-db > /dev/null; fi'
E: Sub-process returned an error code
This APT update error is related to the command-not-found package being broken or missing. Let's fix it step by step.
π΄ Step 1: Fix the command-not-found Issue
Since /usr/lib/cnf-update-db is causing issues, try reinstalling the package:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install --reinstall command-not-found -y
Then, try updating again:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
π΄ Step 2: Check Python and Fix apt_pkg
If python3-apt or apt_pkg is still missing, force reinstall it:
sudo apt install --reinstall python3-apt -y
Then test:
python3 -c "import apt_pkg"
If that still doesn't work, try removing and reinstalling:
sudo apt remove python3-apt -y
sudo apt install python3-apt -y
π΄ Step 3: Repair Broken APT Packages
If the problem still persists, try forcing a fix:
sudo apt --fix-broken install -y
sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt clean
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
π If Everything Works, Reboot and Test
sudo reboot now
Then, test APT:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
β If It STILL Fails…
- Copy-Paste any errors here.
- Let me know if anything didnβt work. π
dang… it's just being that way…..ython3 -c "import apt_pkg"
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<string>", line 1, in <module>
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'apt_pkg'
Alright, if apt_pkg is still missing, let's force reinstall it step by step.
π΄ Step 1: Manually Reinstall python3-apt
Since the system isnβt finding apt_pkg, we need to manually fix the python3-apt package.
π 1. Force Remove and Reinstall
Run these commands:
sudo apt remove --purge python3-apt -y
sudo apt install --reinstall python3-apt -y
Then test again:
python3 -c "import apt_pkg"
π΄ Step 2: Manually Link apt_pkg
If that still doesnβt work, check if the library exists:
ls /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/apt_pkg*
If itβs missing, force a reinstall:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall python3-apt -y
Then manually fix the symlink:
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/apt_pkg.cpython-*.so /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/apt_pkg.so
Now, test again:
python3 -c "import apt_pkg"
π΄ Step 3: Try Installing From Debian Repository
If it STILL doesnβt work, force an install directly from the Debian repo:
wget http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/a/apt/python3-apt_2.3.0_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i python3-apt_2.3.0_amd64.deb
Then test again:
python3 -c "import apt_pkg"
π Final Check
If everything works, clean up:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt --fix-broken install -y
Then reboot:
sudo reboot now
β If It's STILL Brokenβ¦
- Copy-paste the errors here.
- Let me know what worked / what didnβt.
- We might need to do a manual package rebuild if this doesnβt fix it. π
sudo apt remove –purge python3-apt -y

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
shim-signed : Depends: grub-efi-amd64-signed (>= 1.191~) but it is not going to be installed or
grub-efi-arm64-signed (>= 1.191~) but it is not installable or
base-files (< 12.3)
Depends: grub-efi-amd64-signed (>= 1.187.2~) but it is not going to be installed or
grub-efi-arm64-signed (>= 1.187.2~) but it is not installable
Depends: grub2-common (>= 2.04-1ubuntu24) but it is not going to be installed
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.
Alright, this is a package dependency conflict issue, which means python3-apt is tangled up with other critical system packages. Let's fix it carefully without breaking boot-related components.
π Step 1: Identify Held Packages
Run this first to check what packages are being "held" (blocked from updates):
sudo apt-mark showhold
If anything is listed, unhold them:
sudo apt-mark unhold <package-name>
For example, if grub-efi-amd64-signed is held:
sudo apt-mark unhold grub-efi-amd64-signed
π Step 2: Force Reinstall Key System Packages
Now, force reinstall some of the core system packages:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install --reinstall grub-efi-amd64-signed grub-efi-amd64 grub2-common -y
sudo apt install --reinstall python3-apt -y
Then test again:
python3 -c "import apt_pkg"
π Step 3: Try Fixing Broken Dependencies
If errors persist, try this:
sudo apt --fix-broken install -y
sudo dpkg --configure -a
Then retry:
sudo apt install --reinstall python3-apt -y
π Step 4: If the Issue Still Exists…
Try forcing a lower version:
sudo apt install python3-apt=2.0.1ubuntu0.20.04.1
Then test again:
python3 -c "import apt_pkg"
π Step 5: If Nothing Worksβ¦
If you still get errors, then we will need to manually repair the package lists:
sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*
sudo apt update
sudo apt --fix-broken install -y
sudo dpkg --configure -a
Then reboot and test:
sudo reboot now
π Final Test
Once you're back, test:
python3 -c "import apt_pkg"
β If It's Still Broken…
- Copy-paste the latest errors here.
- Let me know what worked / what didnβt.
- If needed, weβll rebuild the package manager manually π
OKIES… well we broke something serious LOL, but i did a little poking and 22.04 uses 3.10 python nativley…. SO, guess what … reinstall and one more time…LOL I know where to sto the upgrade now though…so wont be long.
