RTX 3060 8GB vs 12GB

No — the ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 OC 8G (DUAL-RTX3060-O8G) is the 8 GB version, not the 12 GB one.

The RTX 3060 actually comes in two different memory configurations:
– RTX 3060 12GB (GDDR6) → the standard full version, more VRAM.
– RTX 3060 8GB (GDDR6) → a slightly cut-down variant with less VRAM and a narrower memory bus.

If you specifically need 12 GB for running larger AI models (like your 7B K2 setup for Little Ougway), you’ll want the RTX 3060 12GB, not the 8GB model.

Do you want me to break down the performance/VRAM trade-offs between the 3060 8GB vs 3060 12GB so you can see if the 8GB is even worth considering for your use case?

Good catch — that one is the 12 GB model ✅

The ASUS DUAL-RTX3060-O12G-V2 gives you the full 12 GB GDDR6 VRAM on a 192-bit memory bus, which is exactly what you want for AI workloads. Compared to the 8 GB version, it has:

• More VRAM headroom → lets you comfortably run 7B models (like K2) without spilling over into system RAM.
• Wider memory bus (192-bit vs 128-bit) → better bandwidth for both gaming and compute tasks.
• Better longevity → 12 GB keeps you from hitting VRAM limits too soon as models and datasets grow.

So you’re set — that card is the right one for Little Ougway’s carriage 👍

Do you want me to also walk you through what kind of models you’ll be able to realistically run on it (like max size for inference without quantization)?
